The Swinging Tree

Edthepoet

Is it a strange feeling
To be here again?
Can you hear the echoes of me singing?
Can you feel the rain?

So you still wanna come with?
But It's not your time
Wipe a line of the red clay
Underneath each eye.

You should know by now
What I took was mine to take
Take off your clothes
And walk into green lake
Wash away every broken promise
Wash away the mistakes

You should know better
Than to come here alone
This now final resting place
Shouldn't feel like a home

When you go up
To the swinging tree
Can you still see what I see?
Do you still swear that it can't be
Can you catch your breath now
Do you feel free?
When you go up
To the swinging tree
Can you still see what happened beneath?
