Bonfires

Syd

Negativity
Fear and doubt
Or any emotion
We could do without

Insecurity
Cruelty
Pain
Throw them all on
They're no match for the flames

We'll take turns
We'll both throw on sticks

Plus plastic preconceptions
We'll laugh as they drip

We'll build it high
Like a steaple
We have a responsibility
To add fuel to the arsonists easel

Watch the flames feverishly lick
While we sit back...

A beer we'll sip

Alive in the moment
The cheeks of our faces hot
Awe inspiring, mesmerising
It makes me jump when it loudly crackles and pops

It shoots sparks upwards
They rise on the hot air
My neck cranes back as I continue to stare

The embers rise
Until they have a beautiful backdrop of stars
Drifting in the night sky with Jupiter,
Venus and Mars

Our bodies are cleansed
Our minds are reset
Sometimes you must remember...
Remember to forget

Forget about tomorrow
Or whatever the cool morning transpires...

From now on all that matters
Is you and I...

You and I and bonfires
