The Tin Man Laments

Jon Nakapalau

now I have one

but no one ever told me
that in the having

you also receive
the gift of pain

and that gift
must be exchanged

with others
until your heart stops.

He became human. Shortly thereafter, a Tin Lizzy dumped him for an intelligent Scarecrow. He got a change of oil and a lube job and went back on the Y.B road. - Not to make light of your insightful poem, it just seemed to be to be the logical conclusion. Inspiring stuff. - Phil A.
