one day

Jon Nakapalau

I turned around
just in time to see
our happiness floating away.

It was not shocking,
or sad -
just an ending.

Like a balloon
that you let go of,
looking at the color...

Even as it drifts into the sky,
taken away up into vastness -
fingers still gripping an invisible string.
