Being a Decision

D. K. Heqet

There's a strange and awkward silence,

During the millisecond of thought,

In a decision's violence.

--

Just when he pauses,

As demonic options begin to engorge him,

The search for the right thing suddenly claws him.

--

Decision then falls down in tears.

Shedding his ultimate fears,

He decided on the thing he holds dear.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem imagines the idea of a decision being a person and, in that, the hardship of finding the right choice through many wrong ones being aggressively apparent... could be about love, could be about anything. Let me know what you thought about it and how well it flowed!
