Three breathless words
Fall on to deaf ears
Like a thousand lost spirits
Desperate need to be seen
Baby unlock me
Release me from my thoughts
Ignore our twisted history
And I'm forever yours
I've never waged a war
That didn't need to be waged
So say what you want
But don't shirk your blame
I've never spoke a word
That didn't need to be said
So I never find the ones
You need to hear instead
I kinda like the light
That keeps flickering
It reminds me of a time
I thought I'd imagined
We had no money but
Our veins rushed with blood
And the pulse of life
Beat through our chests like a drum
They're selling perfection
Where truth was once sold
Sell them your inhibitions
And shine your fools gold
Our eternal indecision
Serves to cripple our belief
Can we make it through a weekend without declaring our defeat
Hope is a dangerous game
The only one we have played
Forever changing the rules
But the victor remains the same
The cuts on our dignity
The scars on our heart
Seem to lose all meaning
With to much time spent apart
I kinda like the nights
When the silence creeps in
It makes me think of a time
I thought I imagined
We had no idea but
Our veins rushed with blood
And the pulse of life
Beat through our chests like a drum
