You think, but you don't know...

Canticle

No faith in me,

You think I won’t go far,

You think I’m going to be stuck with thee,

You think you don’t leave scars.

I know you love me,

I know you mean well,

You think I won’t flee,

You think I will dwell.

You think, but you don’t know,

You think I won’t succeed,

You don’t know the places I'll go,

You will NOT impede.

I cannot be dragged down like this,

I don’t deserve it,

All you do is hiss,

I want to quit.

I can’t,

I must push,

I need to decant,

You want me to shush.

I must pursue my dream,

I must become the man I want to be,

I just want to scream,

I want you to see.

I want it to stop,

I want your approval,

I feel like a mop,

And yet I get disapproval.

I love you,

But you need to accept who I am,

And stop making me blue,

I want to scram.

You think I can’t,

You say you believe,

You make me like an ant,

But I will achieve...
