Walls of Brown

An Abstract View of Life

Before me stands a tunnel. Along my sides are walls as tall as the eye can see

They tower above, and a sudden fear encompasses me

The passage is dark and narrow however for some reason it beckons me

Although I am frightened I must go down this path

As I start my journey hints of light splash over the ominous walls

Slowly, as the light flashes before me, the walls seem much less dark

They illuminate as if absorbing the light itself

The gloomy walls now dancing with a vibrant hue

The caverns that once solicited fear and hesitation are now becoming a wonderful sight

All around me the caverns are aglow and I no longer feel lost or afraid,

I'm enthralled

Suddenly, as the weight is lifted from my shoulders, I begin to feel euphoria

In this state I realized, I was just lost in your gaze

The vibrant shades of brown were just the reflection in your eyes

The flashes of light, the sun

Something so beautiful to be lost in, is something I've never found

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this one morning after picking up my girlfriend. We had always hung out at night so I could never appreciate the beauty of her eyes until i saw the sun in them. When I read this I feel a warmth I've never know til her. Some of these poems are my way of thanking her for being so special to me
