Angel of Death

D. K. Heqet

I know in a past life,

That you were my soulmate.

I know this because,

The angel of death just tole me.
-

He’s sat down beside me,

Aiding the pain of the knife that’s inside me.

I told him this life just isn’t for me,
but he stopped the blood and began to hold me.

-
Telling me it’s not my fault,
That I’m just feeling lonely.

He said, ‘my child, why have you done this?’,
I looked him in his face and said

‘Blow me,
I do not care for your words.
Now show me,

What an after life is like when feeling wholly’

-
He heckled shaking his head,

Little did I know the words he would say next...
‘My dear, I am the angel of death.
You are not breathing your last breath just yet’.
He pointed to a sign that said ‘She’s next’.
-
I ran to your door,
Before I could draw a single breath,

Barging through your house,
Now here you are, dead.

Dakota, this is a very powerful poem, whose subject is reincarnation.

You draw the reader in with the histrionics. You may want to edit "tole." Think this was a typo in the first verse and you meant "told."

Nicely done and I enjoyed the read.

    Best,
