Where the Answers Lie

sylviasearcher

Your words almost felt like an invite

To delve into the darkness of my soul

I realise now it was just another of your punches

With which I've learned to roll.

But where else would you find

The 'abandoned' and the 'burnt'?

Myself and you? You and I?

By heart our story learnt.

Your sadness and your fury

At a love relentless yet pure

Who became the judge and jury?

Our poisoned pens behold no cure!

Sweet intoxication

Of course I took the bait

Did you think I'd bring the answers?

I thought the clock was set 'too late'

So I explored my abandoned heart

Held deep within my heavy dirty soul

Alas I found no promised land

Just deepest darkest hole

Delve deeper! Relentless one!

I wonder if its all a game

To make a fool of endless love

Lie me naked, behold my shame

So that you can do to me

What the world does to Spring?

Rebirth

Would that an end to endlessness bring?

And when I explored my darkness

I found my dirty face

Reflected in your knife edge

I see your fingers trace it's shape

Rough but gentle fingers

On strong unforgiving hands

You know I'm always yours to take

And you reach through dirt and sands

Did you find the answers?

On your journey through abandoned dirt?

Your name was brandished on my soul

Caught on fire. Burning. Burnt.
