The Nightly Walk

Carmine

In a quiet night

I walk under the light

the only light that shows me the way

to a deep and long road

that can be endless or limited

it is up to fate on how long

I'm going to walk

how many hours

that will be wasted

but in this endless road

there was a shadow

a shadow with long hair

sitting down on the side

under the light from the light pole

I asked her questions

she gave me answers

I gave her feelings

she gave me humanity

I gave insanity

and

she gave back my sanity

such a pure soul

not a stranger

but a friend

someone to admit to

but not someone to confess to

someone that you can share with

but not to much

sharing to much would be painful

words that can be heard

but not something that can be shared

secrets of someone

but lies to the others

no one knows

only the teller

and

the listener

after the exchange

is a proper goodbye

for

a proper hello

on the new person on the road
