Demon Lie Exposed (+3)

Kurt Philip Behm

Under the shroud of blind obedience,

  the Church forever hides

Its loyalty to the Pope and Rome,

it chides and chides and chides

Canon Law and its corrupted faith

  walk proudly side by side….

          “Where a child of eight

           in parochial school

           was brainwashed deep inside”

But guilt then crumbled, damnation cursed

  by heavens light deposed

The truth and God now one again

   —the demon lie exposed

(Villanova Pennsylvania: March, 2013)

The Instant

A few seconds of eternity

   two more than you’ll need

One moment of profundity

   fog gone—vision freed

(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2013)

To Bless And To Guide

Your brightness, your smile

  changed my life

As your spirit

  recharged my heart

With the strength of

  your father and mothers’ love

Only great things

  your life will impart

Listen to that voice

  above all others

The one that calls

  from inside

And marry your will

  unto your heart

All heaven to bless

  —and to guide

(Lansdale Pennsylvania: April, 2013)

To My Granddaughter Parker On Her Christening

Hiding From The Light

Teasing us with its cover,

  darkness dances with itself

Deep within the shadows

  of its blind self-indulgence

Prophecies unwritten

  die in murky condemnation

Giving birth to another lie

  —hiding from the light

(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2013)

  • Tamara Beryl Latham - The Poet

Kurt, I seriously enjoyed all three poems, but the first one, "Demon Lie Exposed," was profound and reflects the corruption that was not included in Canon Law, but was eventually brought to light and finally exposed to the world.

Sorry you were one of the victims.

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Just to be clear, this poem has nothing to do with any sexual abuse, but about the hypocrisy in parochial school (The Baltimore Catechism) in the 1950's.

Kurt, from what has graced the news lately, relating to the Catholic church, I deduced you were using the words "deep inside" figuratively. Yet, there is additional hypocrisy relating to the Church and the Canon, aside from "The Baltimore Catechism."

As an example, Pope Gregory conflated all three biblical Marys and designated Mary Magdalene a whore; yet she was not named as a prostitute in any one of the four gospels.

Movie after movie has portrayed Magdalena as a prostitute, yet I've never heard any of the Popes come out and denounce this slander. 🙂

And Leonardo has her seated to the right of Jesus in 'The Last Supper. I couldn't agree more.

          Thanks

Thanks Tamara, most of what the good Sisters taught me I have carried
with me, but some of the precepts they were charged with enforcing I
never believed—even as an 8 year old.

I adore the concept of the Holy Trinity, but the other concept they taught,
that only Catholics go to heaven, I knew was flawed and ludicrous from the start.

Anyway, the good thing was it started me to think, and after College and
Graduate School as a Philosophy-Theology student—I really majored in
          'Hypocrisy Revealed.'

And no, it did not endear me to my Jesuit Professors.

          Thanks for reading.

          Kurt,

          Three extraordinary writes!

I was going to comment on “ Demon Lie Exposed”!
After reading all the comments already made, I don’t think it is necessary. Adding a comment by me would be of a very personal nature which I’m not ready to share on a public forum!

What a precious gift for your granddaughter on her christening day! She will cherish your gift forevermore! You are both blessed to have each other!
