Space Case

Hemlock

We’ll see you again one day,

When the earth comes spinning back your way.

You keep your secrets locked inside your chest,

Tell me what’s under that helmet.

I won’t spill your whispers to the void,

I won’t spill your soul to the stars,

The whole universe won’t know of those murmurs,

What’s really going on behind those spaced out eyes, and the unforgiving words.

Astronaut.

Astronaut.

Astronaut.

You don’t have to keep me so far away,

Come back to the earth and stay,

The other planets can wait,

You don’t need to go out of the atmosphere, but I’ve always known you’ve needed space.

Just don’t float so far away.

In my mind you’ll always stay.

Did you only hold me close to stand on my shoulders and reach for the stars?

You don’t hold on.

You drift above it all.

And the sky above you is abysmal.

Why stay here with me...

...When you could finally be free?

Astronaut, where are you?

Astronaut,

Please, please report what the problem is.

I’m losing signal on you.

Astronaut, I-I didn’t mean what I said..

Dear god Astronaut, please don’t be dead.
