On Halloween
Goblins and ghosts trick-or-treated
Excitedly at our place
And others wanted candy too
With a sweet tooth to sate
Chocolate was the favorite treat
Of the candy we handed out
And the spooks ate the sweets
With gobs in their mouths
Some characters went home early
As if they had the flu
Though eating too much candy
More likely changed their hue
For others the candy was fine
And really was a treat
With a few giving some
To those with no sweets
Costumes were stored away
To be seen again next year
With the little kids
Cute and hardly feared
