Imprisoned Heart

Heavy shackles,

You must atone.

Hands outstretched,

White as a bone.

A gray sea washes away,

The sins of the weak.

The shadows waltz on the walls,

They draw me in with a sense of mystique.

I watch the love bloom of fantasy faces,

Blank silhouettes with smiles only I perceive.

I want to steal away their happiness as my own,

Though, I’m no thief.

So I stand and wearily attend,

These empty outlines lead a life akin to dreams.

I simply long to, one day, mirror,

The very joy only my eyes can see.

I really enjoyed the imagery in the poem. It brought me into the world you captured and the message sent. So vivid. Loved it.
