Winter 'Morn

Winter ‘Morn

All the world was quiet and calm

And snowy white at the dawn

With an occasional squirrel or two

In the fork of a tree they knew

Time stood still for them there

With the snow deep everywhere

With a cardinal there above

As picturesque as any dove

All the frozen timber creaked

And swayed in the frigid breeze

With a hawk perched up high

Surveying all the winter white

A fox hunted in the snow

With his treks a nature show

There in the light of day

Picture perfect hunting prey

A boy bundled went outside

To explore the countryside

With the animals all around

Active in the snow come down
