My Nightmare

My Nightmare

When I daydream, I see it watching me

I’m safe when I’m awake, it can’t get to me

I fear night, cause the nightmare persists

The sandman shows me, the evil that exists

In the distance I hear, the heavy footsteps

Louder and louder with, every single rep

Slowly the sound moves, closer to me

My heart pumps harder, crying out a plea

The door slowly opens, with long a creak

The shadows in the room, are trying to speak

Each step runs through me, as it draws near

I must keep my wits, and control the fear

It stops at my bed, standing right over me

I dare not peek, fearing the evil I may see

I hear it’s heavy breathing, and smell its putrid sent

This creature embodies evil, fear and torment

If I don’t tremble or move in any way

This thing may lose interest, and just go away

In my ear it speaks a language, I don’t understand

Is it a warning, from the world of the dammed?

It slowly goes away, leaving me shaken and relieved

Weathering another night, one more reprieve

The morning light comes and this nightmare is at end

Until the night comes and It echoes once again
