Sudden sadness

Samreen Chowdhury

I cry a river, no one can listen.

Silent tears, shhhh

I cry a river no one can feel

Inside it’s trying to heal

Just colours of dark, grey and black fill the world in which I live.

My smile is nothing of what it seems.

Soul captured, freedom enclosed.

Fortitude in my tears

But cries due to my fears

Empty, loneliness and solitude.

My shadow fights

There’s a decline in eyesight

Shadows of darkness invade.

I cry a river and no one hears.
