Worthless human being
takes up precious space.
Ugly little thing
deserves to die.
"You're a disgrace to your race."
"Pathetic little mind."
"Your face is ugly,
Your legs are too big.
No one wants you
and you'll always be alone."
Anxiety and depression
overtakes the mind.
"I am worthless, I am weak.
I will never be anything
in my lifetime..."

Opinions of others
do not define me.
How they labeled me
is not who I am.
So who am I?
I am strong and free,
beautiful and intelligent,
talented and extraordinary,
courageous and resilient.
This is me.

- Comment from author about the poem: We all have been falsely labeled by others. The perception and judgement of others make us feel worthless. However, we don't have to listen to negativity. In my poem, every negative comments and feelings have been crossed out. Because I know these are not true. I know myself better than anyone. I know my history, personality, nationality, health, everything. You know yourself better than anyone. Don't let these kind of comments get to you. Don't ever think less of yourself. You are worth so much more. Chose positive words to describe yourself. If you continue to surround yourself with positivity, you will feel more motivated. False labels placed by other do not define you. Don't let it define who you are. Stay strong. Be courageous. Most importantly, be resilient.

Thank you so much! Debsspot, you should never change to satisfy others. We only change to better ourselves. It's never too late to love and embrace the person you are. I'm glad everything worked out in the end. I think it is usually experiences that teaches us variety of lessons. It's not easy to follow what our love ones say until we see it for ourselves.
