Keeping Time

Jane Frye

Are the eternalist right?
Is it useless to put up a fight?
Is it all planned out ahead?
Has it all been done and said?
Is the ontology of time
nothing but a rewind?

Or is it the block universe theory,
that's making me weary?
Does the past and present coexist?                                             I
s time really an illusion with a twist?

All was going fine,
Until Einstein.
He put it down in a dissertation,
with a detailed explanation.
Hand written and signed.
It muddled my mind.

The Timex, the Rolex,
Buzz's Omega Speedmaster, first on the moon,
was nothing more than a fantasy ticking to a different tune.
Just a persistent illusion,
              to perpetuate my confusion.

Yes, but it's hard to wrap my mind around it. Thanks for taking the time to read my poem.
