Dead Man Walking

Edthepoet

Heavy lies the crown
In a far out forgotten town
Any hero will do until the morning

There's a tonne of regret
Weighing down on his legs
And a tongue so tired of talking

For he confessed his sins
And he repents for what he did
Oh there goes, the dead man walking.

Sometimes we get it wrong
Man we've all sung that song
The one where flight turns into falling

Sometimes we get in deep
Boy we've all dreamt that dream
The one where our lost soul comes calling

Now the Sunset sets in
Fighting the cold of his skin
Son here comes, the dead man walking

There are some songs worth singing
Some thoughts worth sharing
Some crimes worthy of forgiveness

There are some stories worth telling
Some burdens worth baring
Sometimes it's beyond understanding

Now the moonlight finds home
In the coldness of his bones
Oh there goes, the dead man walking
