Glory of Light

Anasyil

Away from me,

ashes of the past.

Return to the ground,

never return,

Away from me,

shards of broken glass.

Picking them up

results in scars.

Away from me,

loneliness and despair.

I refused to feed darkness

with blood and tears.

Away from me,

shackles of limitations.

Wings of freedom,

I soar through skies!

Away from me,

darkness that lies.

I now stand with

glory of light.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Remember, darkness display itself as safety or restitution, but it's only a facade. I recall the days I thought darkness was more of a friend. The more I fall into it, the more I started losing touch of reality. Mental illness is caused by darkness; it's depressing, lonely, anxiety-ridden. It's watching the foundations of your world fall apart. When I started improving myself with positivity and optimism, my life changed for the better. I was truly happy. I felt so free. I have not felt this way in years. The light is warm, not cold. It's love, not hate. It's accepting, not rejecting. It's seeing the beautiful qualities of oneself, not criticizing oneself. It's a beautiful feeling. The secret is to love and accept yourself. It is easier said than done. I don't exactly know how I did this, but I guess it started with the people I met who had inspired me.

A glorious celebration of freedom Anasyil.
The first step is the hardest.
