I am a breaking light

D. K. Heqet

I am a breaking light,

See my flicker throughout the night.

Draws down, take of the knickers,

It’s the only way I feel better.

They keep pulling at my string,

Only to find nothing happening.

Maybe a brief glimmer, but not that of hope,

Until they stop looking I’ll shimmer and mope.

Does this mean I ought to elope?

Or, fling this string around my neck in hopes that I choke.

I think I must go.

I am a breaking light and I think I have to go.

My glow is being stolen and I cannot see.

So please for me,

Let me alone and be.
