Schizophrenic
Darkness floods a broken mind
Screaming out for calmness to find
Sanity drowns in torrential tears
Crowded in loneliness that no one hears
With open mouth words haunt the air
Medication needed ,but to dark to care.
Menacing shadows breed violence assured
As notice is taken of the voices heard
Changes are writhe with character sway
Always forgotten some would say.
Two people present but one body and soul
One taken over by madness so cold
Unreasonable words drip rashly from tongue
Actions and gestures alarmingly strong
Care arrives to calm and console
Medication induced for rest and resolve
Effectiveness swift as chaos retreats
As darkness and anger take a back seat
A tormented mind rests once more
For exactly how long we are never so sure.

A terrible condition. Hopefully you're not blessed to have experienced it personally?
We become afraid at people being unpredictable; label them odd or strange; we back off from them and leave them alone. These are some reactions we may have.
I work for the national health service in England my work involves me in areas where there are vulnerable adults and children it’s so sad at times because all are lovely people. But for obvious reasons at times it’s upsetting. My poem is inspired from regular first hand experience.
