We're at war with everything said before
We've even had our say
We're at war with everything done before
We've even had our day
What does it really matter
What should it really matter
If you're black or white or gay.
How can you be so terrified
Of thinking something new?
How can you be so horrified
By a different opinion to you?
How can you be so occupied
By what other people do
How can you be so mortified
Because that's not how you move
You can't fight the fight
If it isn't yours to fight
There's nobody in the field
These aren't your tears to cry
You can't talk the talk
If it isn't yours to talk
There's nobody in the noose
These aren't your strides to walk
An endless opportunity to explore the skies
With the limitless technology
Reflecting in your eyes
And it's all you can do to sacrifice
The future of humanity
In order to set free the lost souls of the oppressed that you now victimise..in order to justify your procrastination and hide your distinct lack of originality behind a false sense of entitlement and an outlook on life, not to dissimilar to the closed minds that caused the oppression you now feel the need to fight 100 years down the line..

Very expressive poem that introduces a challenge to the thought process of most of us.
Great write. 🙂
Hey, thanks Tamara, I've recently gone back to college at the age of 29 & found that the 18/19 year olds are a little too obsessed with race, gender and sexuality, like their opinions are a racing car and those 3 things are the Bends they have to navigate on the racetrack of life... That may be an awful analogy but I'm gonna run with it.
You definitely should run with it. I look forward to reading more from you. 🙂
Thought provoking outlook and reflections rendered in awesome rhyming wow. Yes, we shouldn't be preoccupied with what others do and I like other great fine things you say. Kudos.
