The Mask of Fantasy

The Mask of fantasy

By M.D Byrnes

Is it greater to the human to bear a mask of fantasy or a face of reality? Faces bear scarce, scares tell stories most horrific. For whom may lay eyes on those scars and not tremble in despair. To wear a mask, to be blinded of such scars that Stain all faces. But there is the cruise of all masks.

To wear a mask is to wear a liar's face. Masks speak of stories that seem as if it be written by a poet of love and harmony. But what is the purpose of such stories if every time they are told tears of sorrow is shed underneath that treacherous mask.

But what tragedy would ensure once thou come to the recognition that thy mask has turned to a face? For thou have worn thy mask for so long that the face ‘tis dismissed from one's mind. Furthermore, all whom bared witness to thy face ‘tis now lost. But yet thy scars that thou have tried so hard to conceal underneath a mask of fantasy could never heal.

A really powerful piece touching on the everday complexities of existence of self.

    What is reality anyway?
    What is existence?
