Wrinkly Hands

ForeverJesus7

They give me wrinkly fingers.
They dry out my hands.
They accidentally,
splash back at me,
when I clean the pots and pans.
It takes me forever to do them,
where as it only takes my mom a minute.
Because underneath,
all the soapy grease,
it looks like something,
is swimming in it.
The outcome of making,
a delicious meal,
is cleaning up even more,
whether it is a thick metal crockpot,
or hoping not to drop,
a thin wine glass on the floor.
Oh the pain of doing dishes...
Still, I do them anyway,
with a bottle of Dawn.
Though I would rather mow the lawn,
but for now -
sigh -
in front of the sink is where I will stay.
