New Year

"Carter Wills"

And so we all meet here again
as the year winds down to its end
and we all just wait for the clock to strike twelve.

And so we will sing some songs,
and the joy will come along
as into this new year headfirst we delve.

And so we laugh and drink,
and of the next year we think,
wondering what it is we’ll all do.

And so we sit back and see
the clock ticking so slowly
down to a new year for me and you.

And so as this year
draws to its close
I must say my dear
I'm glad for you, you know.

Thank you for sharing this year with me
and letting me live so happily.
And I only hope you'll let me share
this next year with you too, mon cher.
