Alone

TheStrongInHeart

People think they know me,

That what’s on the surface is all that there be,

They don’t understand that this man is more than what you see,

I have an inner strength- a powerful reality.

I’ve contorted myself to fit their small minds, small dreams

Sacrificing truth for friendships, looking for something deeper,

It’s ironic because I ended up with neither.

An intriguing piece full of contradiction.

      Ps.
Im totally with you at 'sacrificing truth for friendship.

You get neither with this compromise.

I like this. The thinking man realising he's on a different planet to most around him. Those last two lines are masterful.
