Crash into Tomorrow

poetboy5454

Fanged feelings of fear filling me as I free fall through the night

Sinking into the ground crumbling into a sea of lightless flame

Tick tock of the clock as it inches ever closer to midnight

Gagged by hopelessness, helpless to the terrors I can't tame

At once, the kicking and screaming and struggling stop

Eyes fluttering, quickly then slowly, until they close

Fists unclench, all movement dead, all will drops

Kneeling to the shadows, given into the woes

Stripped of everything but my memories

In black and white, the past flows into my present mind

Eyes slowly open, fingers twitch for the remote

Searching through each channel for a chance to find

The will to stay afloat

In full color, the past floods into my head

The hopes of yesterday serving as the banners for tomorrow

A deep roar shatters through me and tears through the night ahead

A scarlet flame burns its way through the threaded shadows

Fear's chain of snakes goes limp as I step forward

From within a cauldron of black nightmares, a golden dream was stirred

Its gentle glow revealing the looming shadows to be mice

Scurrying back to their hole in the ice

I reject and refuse reality, resisting its truth

Choosing to live a lie until it becomes the truth

Choosing to fight until I can dream with open eyes

My fall transforming into a flight towards the open skies

With this momentum, I crash through into tomorrow

Confronting the tribulations of fear and sorrow

I grab a handful of clouds and paint the sky I will fly in

The ink forever drying along the walls of memory
