Borrowed Characters

Neville

Borrowed Characters

Hey Fascist

Why not let go

Of all those

Borrowed characters

Yes those which openly

Symbolize hate

Each one corrupted

Before you were born

And filed in dark cupboards

Hey terrorist

Why not get a life

Instead of taking

Lives like that

Yes we are human beings too

You know

Regardless of what

Your teacher preaches

In dark cellars

Hey brother

Why not let go

Of all that hate

And pent up anger

What purpose does it serve?

Except to feed upon it

And fester like some hungry tumour

In dark corners

Hey stranger

Why not get to know us

Stop pointing fingers

Through ignorance and fear

Take a deep breath and a moment

Before you hurl that rock

In our direction

Hey Judas

Why not get out of here

While you are still able to

Go some place and hide

You are pathetic

Just like so many others

Who once queued here?

Before being spawned

In some dark fantasy

Hey neighbour

Why not take a rain check

And release all those

Borrowed characters

You once seduced and kept

Subdued with hatred then

Removed discreetly from some

Dark old empty tomb

Hey God

Why not save us

There must be something

Worth salvaging down here

Just nod if you can hear me

It must be time

For another head count

Why not make this

Dark shadow disappear

I actually really love this one.

It played like a 70s song in my head.

Feel like I need to quote Corinthians 13:1 for the second time today.

    Now dis that surprise you?

My other self posted this on Facebook.

My other other other self that is 😂

It was for my unrequited soulmate but seems to fit.

Sometimes people talk about being on different pages, well we are not even in the same library.

I suppose the difference is. I don't judge or feel angry about the books in your library. They are yours.
I don't even pretend to understand the books in your library. They are yours.

So please just don't think you know anything about my books and my library. Unless you have taken the time to empty your head with opinion and have an open mind to my books. I'm not bothered if you would rather not. The choice. That's yours. But just don't judge what you do not know or understand.

      That's all.

      That request.

      That's mine.

      My only one.

Me singing is a waste of space (lol), let alone some people being like a dark shadow, as a waste of space seemingly.

I guess everything is open to interpretation, isn't it.. and poetry is no exception to such a universal law.. dont be so hard on yourself... and thanks for checking in here this fine mane...

But you dunno my singing. Or maybe you do? (heehee). It's a joke of mine - me berating my singing. Aww, but why some say 'Is there a tune to that song?' when I sing. lol.

Yep, sylviasearcher is right with her corinthians point...... all you/they need is love.
Except the last verse. This god is supposed to be full of love... but look at all the awful stuff that he, in his omnipotent glory, reigns down upon us. Worth our adoration? I think not.

            • Neville

I guess that is my point.. we are all very different and perceive of things in our own inimitable way.. I am not religious.. but I do follow a strict Buddhist pathway.. each to his/her own... I prefer the middle way........

Oh I struggle because I want to have hope for the wretched and the damned too.

I want to believe that perhaps evil is man made and can be erased?

But people tell me I'm naive and foolish and I know it's true. It's just my way...

Borrowed indeed are the characters of people who like to ferment both hatred and judgement - - this verse hits the nail on its head Neville. in that we are all waiting on this beautiful planet for shadows as stated to disappear.

you are most perceptive Fay... I wonder if we can do anything to prevent further negativity and corruption....

It reminds me of a saying in the epic poem GITA,
                "inaction is action as well"
in reference to your last stanza.
I really, really enjoyed this poem

                  I am delighted..... thank you
