String Of Pain (repost)

"String of Pain"

My life is a pearl

On a string of pain

Where love is a torture

in a fevered brain

A soft futile whisper

In the night's frozen rain

One pure note

In a dying refrain

My life is a pearl

On a string of pain

An ocean of trodden grass

in fields Where I've lain

My hopes are tattered

And my dreams are in chains

My life is a pearl

On a string of pain

Not worth a damn

In this mortals domain

Just a tiny flawed pearl

On life's string of pain

I guess there are times when it feels better to be strung along than to feel absolutely nothing at all... on second thoughts, have I got that the right way round or what... anyway, carry on regardless.. that's what I say..... enjoyed from one end to tother.. Neville

A good write as a poem, and I have no pain in reading it! But I hope the sentiments in it are only fictional to you.

            • Candlewitch

              dear orchidee,

the sentiments are real from a past history. but now I have some happiness in my life. thank you for your good wishes!

              *hugs, Cat

              My dear Cat,

I’m am very happy to know that this write is not about the present!
Although we can never forget the past, we move on beyond that “string of pain”...remembering it and then LETTING IT GO! From pain we gain strength. We forge on to continue our journey as painlessly as possible!
I’m ecstatic for you that you now “have some happiness in your life”! Well deserved!

              Stay well and be happy!

              Hugs 🤗🤗

Good to see your work again you pearl.
Sadness and pain is what makes us the poets we are i guess. Sad to read your words but this is a very well composed piece.

                  • Candlewitch

                    hello dusk arising,

getting through the pain is what makes us who we are...it either makes us or breaks us. I guess we are composites of where we've been. thanks for your input, always glad to hear from you 🙂
