To seek, fear; to pray

for one who’d smite your “right” cheek

“left”- a lamb to shear

  • Comment from author about the poem: May Catholics never allow themselves to be bullied into the corner. This recent standing up peacefully against an act of active aggressiveness is an act of courage where I come from. Kudos to the youth of Covington Catholic High for keeping their cool under fire. A fine write Gary. I'm sure it didn't mean going to extremes - 'If one smites you on the right cheek, offer him the left cheek also' but Christ didn't add 'And let him give you a good beating too!' doh!

Thanks Orchidee - the kids acted out of fear too - having two separate groups of adult bullies to contend with as we have learned later as this story develops. Oh our wonderful press in the USA! Many of us long for an impartial press like your tried and trued BBC.
