A flicker of existence

JillianA

The hot dry ground

Where life once flourished

Lay quiet, still, dormant

Never ending gloom upon this land

Starving, wanting, in need for water

A place once habitable, now forlorn

and desolate

Dark clouds needed in this bleak vast open space

The swell of water to burst forthwith

and quench the thirst of this arid land

A fleeting glimpse of leathery skin

Skittering across the endless plain

The hope that life can survive this world

A flicker of existence lives within
