the black cat

magic_in_the_pages

as i sit upon a lonely bench in an abandoned street

A black cat my eyes do meet

i sit and i stare at this omen of death

This does nothing to quicken my breath

this cat does not leave me as i carry on

it follows me as I walk to my very lawn

it sits and it stares as I walk inside

yet I do not feel the urge to run and hide

this cat has not left by time morning comes,

it follows my scent like a trail of bread crumbs

but I do not feel any fear,

even though this omen of death seems to predict that the end is near,

This cat follows me throughout my days

I cannot escape it’s knowing gaze

For years and years I have not escaped this omen of death

it followed me until I breathed my very last breath

It was a cold, rainy day when I passed away

I looked at the cat and headed it’s way

across the street i went, then there was a bright light

as a car hit me, my ghost remains there and I can be seen ever night

this omen of death had finally served its duty

It was odd, but all I saw was it’s beauty

and beauty it was, for when I passed away i could see

if fact this omen was my lover, waiting for me,
