He calls to me
Leads me close
And then he leaves
Over and over
Again and again
It's my own fault
For trusting him
He always promises
He can make it all change
Make it all go away
So i let him in
I listen to his empty promises
But I'm oblivious
His voice is like magic
Deep and smooth
It resonates in my chest
His words are rich
Like the sweetest wine
So I let him in
And I listen
I invite him to stay
Sit him at my table
Let him sleep in my bed
Follow me through my day
His presence is consuming
It distracts me from the rest of the world
Having him around
Makes me feel at ease
So I let him in
He's beyond beautiful
His darkness is alluring
I prove my love
By carving his name
Into a piece of me
I tell him I'm ready
I want to be with him for eternity
He smiles at me
And then he leaves
He promises me
We can be together forever
It just takes one thing
I have to prove I can do it
I can leave everything
And everyone
Behind
I tell him I'd do it
One final heartbeat
Then everything would change
But once again
He says not today
I love you
And I want you
But not today
It's never today
He's never ready for me
But I've been ready for him
I've planned it all
A hundred times over
The only thing left
Is to know when
And how
How I will get to him
When the time comes
Because I know
Once we are together
He will never leave me
And I will be his for eternity

- Comment from author about the poem: this poem is about suicidal thoughts and how wanting to be with death is like being in a rollercoaster relationship one moment youre ready to do it youll leave everything and everyone behind but the next hes gone and you dont think he'll come back and just when youre getting over him he shows up on your porch waiting to do it all over again
