Baseball Co-Champs

Baseball Co-Champs

Many years ago one spring

I threw the ball around

And had a homerun swing

My coach and teammates found

I was in 9th grade

And made As and Bs back then

So I was eligible to play

And could help us win

The upperclassmen accepted me

And I had a few fans

In the stands there faithfully

Whenever I hit and ran

I took my place at first base

With my first base glove

And I felt in first place

Every time I suited up

The coach decided one day

To try me as a pitcher

And he felt that I did great

With a curved ball but no splitter

That year we faced Crocket

And were tied in the district race

With our pitchers the rockets

Competing that final game

We got a district medal

That showed we played well

But the title we had to share

With Crocket great as well

We got some new coaches

The next years that we played

And we were better than most

But  unlike former days
