Meadow So Dear (+9)

Kurt Philip Behm

A ray of warm sunshine

  sparkling delight

An arrival so blessed

  on wings of a sprite

Its music plays silent

  from distant to near

Springtime is calling

  —the meadow so dear

(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2015)

Ecstacy

I’d rather be ecstatic

  in uncomfortable surroundings

Than miserable

  —in comfort and shame

(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2015)

Praying For The Light

I know that I believe,

never sure of whom or what that is

I know that I can see,

never sure of what’s beyond my sight

I’ve heard your pleading heart,

never sure of how that makes me feel

As I stand inside this shadow waiting

  —praying for the light

(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2015)

Our New Beginning

To live inside

   your laughter

To your hearts

   will I belong

To write each hope

   eternal

As our wishes

  —turn to song

(To My Grandchildren: October 9th, 2015)

My Soul To Shine

My DNA lettered

My bloodstream in verse

My feelings in couplets

My last goes to first

My thinking in prose

My expression in rhyme

My horizons unwritten

My soul there to shine

(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2015)

Waiting

Marooned inside the shallows

—stalked by the next rising tide

(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2015)

Shadows

Shadows…

  of a former self

Shadows…

  of that no longer felt

Shadows…

  memories hide in sin

Shadows…

  the future-past within

(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2015)

My Legacy Planted

Mentally on the road

  while spiritually at home

My mind got to wander

as my soul was at peace

Mentally on the road

  while spiritually at home

My thoughts got to ponder

  what only distance could release

Mentally on the road

  while spiritually at home

My roots sinking deeper

  my connection firmed

Mentally on the road

  while spiritually at home

My legacy planted

   —beneath all that I’d learned

(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2015)

Time Untethered

My verse begins

 where logic ends

Escape its mission

 new light to bend

The easy answer

 the convenient close

Now left to others

 by others chose

Each phrase a path

 that leads inside

Beyond where dogma

 schemed and lied

A light there shines

 unto itself

By grace of nothing

 above all else

The music starts

 once halfway in

To cleanse your mind

 of lies and whim

Words join each note

 to dance in song

All time untethered

 —from right or wrong

(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2019)

Love's Delight

The pen became my instrument

 the words became my notes

The stanzas burn like songs on fire

 new voices scream with hope

The ink runs free and heavy

the score in black and white

The music coursing through my soul

 —to christen love’s delight

(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2019)

    Kurt,

Reading these beautiful poems is like being wrapped in a warm blanket sitting by the fireplace drinking hot chocolate on a cold night!

    *Exquisite!*

    ~Laura~

    *Especially...
    ā€¢ ā€œEcstasyā€ and
    ā€¢ ā€œOur New Beginningā€

  • Kurt Philip Behm

You paint a wonderful image, Laura.

    Thank you

    • LaurašŸŒ»

      My pleasure!

      ā€¢ ā€œMy Legacy Plantedā€

Before I noticed the date, I thought you had just penned this poem.

      ā€˜Mentally on the road
      while spiritually at homeā€™

      My legacy planted
      ā€”beneath all that Iā€™d learnedā€™

I feel I can visualize your journeys...
and think about all that youā€™ve learned!

      Thank you for sharing!

      ~Laura~

Wow, all of these are wonderful but I loved Ecstasy and weirdly enough I wrote a song once called Pray for Light šŸ™‚
