Tasting The Pavements.

kevin browne

Ran away somewhere where I'd never seen
It took me nowhere to where I'd never been
Broke in silence in a land of old make beliefs
What if things go wrong I'd be too blind to see
Sold the seal of hope that I'd be a movie star
Broken hearts fall down then see them from afar
Another road walked in my footsteps by footstep
And. an old lover was lost in lust and just wept
In cradling power to enhance the change of must
Sun shone on my back for a lifetime of mistrust
Although rain turned my pain into a cold bitterness
A discovery I found along highways with happiness
A wasted time felt free to change any hope of mine
Tasting the pavements where occasionally a dime
Yes, I am too blind to see
To blind for both you and me
It's been a long, long haul
And. then a long way to go
Before that, I start to fall
Never wonder why it all stands so still
Sleep in dreamland with a wish on your window seal
Blessing in the belief of a life that caught hold of me
In the distance of shaded memories, I couldn't see
I drew the chart and wrote the map upon my heart
Where life began in a world to me which fell apart
So, the window of a passing breeze pulled in tight
As I gazed the wandering stars all through the night
Rumour after rumour with silence all around
I tried finding the things that didn't make a sound
But' staying close to me
Is me trying to be seen
In way of some honesty
Take a look, and you'll see me.
