My Little Firefly

daydreaming

Summer days, bright blue skies
Perhaps it’s time to mystify
The sun keeps moving farther west
The night gets closer, I can tell
I close my eyes to let things go
My mind is ready to transform
The boring day I just endured
Better days are soon to come.

I let my instincts take control
And take me places I’ve never known
Sensations, images, and sounds
They overwhelm me late at night
A world runs wild inside my head
Crazy and careless I must say
But now I’m ready to express
These hidden feelings I can’t shake.

So come to me firefly
Illuminate my hazy path
Show me where I need to go
You know the place, you told me so
Convince me that there is a way
To fill my heart with tenderness
Help me find the love I lost
Bring us close and let me go
But if I’m asking for too much
Tell him not to give up hope
And wait for me, our day will come.

As I spend time with you tonight
I hear the cricket’s lullaby
It gets me sleepy, I won’t lie
This world that lives inside my head
Feels very real I must confess
Because when I open my eyes
I feel your endless loving light
Keeping me warm and safe tonight.

So stay with me firefly
Be my tangent point in time
Be the portal that I need
Connect my two realities
Break these chains, let me be
Make my fantasies run free
‘Cause I no longer want to live
Without your fire light guiding me.
