The Sands

SerenWise

The train rattles on

With that familiar rhythm,

I've felt it a thousand times,

But today it brings no

Sweet memories

Only miseries.

Cliffs rise up,

And I remember

How I walked them alone;

But knowing that I

Was welcome home,

Even cold and drenched

With esturine chill.

The sands seem to call

Like long-lost ghosts,

All those souls

Who lost their way -

Disappeared beneath the mud

Memories stuck there

Will forever stay.

How I wish you cared

And wanted me,

Your only child

Who has never lived up

To what you wanted her to be.

But I'm just me...

I fear I'll never measure up,

So sorry.
