Bedtime

MaddieJ

All of my memories written on pillowcases

Tears are the ink the pen is my face

Hang them aloft in the deadness of my room

While I’m awake thinking of the life I choose

Pull the covers over my head

Like a cloud that I hide behind when no one can shed

The Light

These are the nights

Sun, shine into my room

Take away the face of your brother the moon

He’s staring into my window at night

Making me dream about the failures of my life

Oh, these are the nights

These are the nights

Take back the poems you wrote to me

I memorized all the words after you spoke to me

Whisper and blow a big kiss

Send your regrets as I walk away in bliss

These are the nights

The best time of my life

These are the nights

The best time of my life

Roll down the windows and drive

Breathe in the air from the freeway outside

Watch as the city passes me by

Feel like the wind's in my wings I could fly

Oh, these are the nights

These are the nights
