Maxine Smith

How do we write, when words swollowed from sight

Thundering sky’s, steel words into the night

Reems of our truths, desperate to unfold

Somehow lost on the journey, to be told

The power of words, pull us to be heard

Not just black or white lines, we see the blurred

Words alleviate suppressed emotion

If they vanish, hearts are left unspoken

  • Comment from author about the poem: Just a little poem about wonderful words and how powerful they can be. It’s also about how it feels when you struggle to find the words to express yourself ... writers block is simply the worst.

Sometimes we can fit words into reduced spaces of expression. It's a beautiful concept you have here. Leaving the imagination with few words creates the beautifully written just a few words poem. I think you did a great job for you clarity in thought.

Lovely response Kevin, thank you so much.

HOLA MAXINE GRACIAS POR TU POEMA : PARABLAS = WORDS ~ Enjoyed it ! The definition of Modern Poetry is : Any Words in Any Order : Without Rhyme Rhythm or Reason ! Modern Poets never get WRITERS BLOCK ! However I am a PERFORMANCE POET and my main criteria for a piece of writing to be a POEM IS : It must be recitable ! Initially Poetry was an ORAL TRADITION ~ Poeple sat round the Camp Fire and recited (and learned) their History & Cultures through SAGAS. Poetry that is written mainly for SILENT READING has lost its roots : OK
ORAL POETRY can never be lost (its all in the MIND !) and YES it does alleviate suppressed EMOTION : AMEN
Blessings & Love through POETRY : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡
