The Beauty of Darkness

daydreaming

The first ray of morning light
That seeps through my frozen window
Unveils a world before my eyes
Quite familiar to most people.

My usual day is defined by objects
Objects full of color and shapes
Everything has a name and a place
My mind interprets all that exists.

I am getting ready for another day
I exit my room in the usual way
I step outside, I need my shades
To block the glare I can’t escape.

I go through a melting pot of faces
While walking down familiar places
I know my time is getting closer
As the night miracle approaches.

That incipient ray of light
That seduced my eyes this morning
Is quickly fading over time
I’m excited just to think about it.

Thoughts run wild at this very moment
Consequences of actions I must uncover
It’s the nocturnal world I keep creating
What gives me the strength to keep on going.

At night my sense of smell gets stronger
My pile of dirty clothes annoys me
The sense of touch begins to excite me
Even when my empty bed betrays me.

In the dark, I can place myself
At the center of the entire universe
Opening my eyes in total darkness
Is like staring at the face of infinity.

Let me bring you into this world of mine
I don't want to compete for attention or time
Here there’s only room for me and you
Let’s do what we came here to do!
