The Story of Creation

daydreaming

Before the beginning
There was no time or space
No Heaven, no Earth
No planets or moons
No natural laws or rules.

Before the beginning
There was no life or death
No happiness or sorrow
No laughter or tears
No valor, no fear.

But before the beginning
There was Love...
Enduring and infinite love
A powerful force
Capable of creating
Everything that is
Everything that was
And everything that’s yet to be.

Love exists in its own right
It always was, it is
And it will always be
The one universal truth
We accept absolutely
Love gives the Cosmos
Order and direction
Love is the God
Who launched our Creation.

Invoking the power of the Word
One day God said, “I am"
The sound of those words
Triggered the events
That sent shock waves
All across the Universe.
As She waived her hands
Galaxies appeared
When She pointed her fingers
In every direction
Planets and stars
Became quite a collection
When She blinked her eyes
Billions of comets
Carrying water and ice
Were caught by the worlds
They found in their path.

The World She created
Was beautiful, harmonious
Dynamic and gigantic
With joy and excitement
She looked for a place
Where a beautiful garden
She had the need to create
She found a hot planet
Romancing a Star
In a cluster of bodies
In the primeval sky
With grace and harmony
She watched them dance
Revolving and spinning
Closer and closer they got.

She smothered the planet
With a cool gentle breeze
Cooling its surface
She was proud and pleased
She then smashed comets
Against the young world
To create the oceans
Lakes and rivers formed.

She dazzled the planet
With a gorgeous Moon
That tilted its axis
As the seasons resumed
She then set in motion
A series of steps
In which flora and fauna
Evolved with success.

The world God created
Was a Masterpiece
She named it “Earth”
She was very pleased
She walked through the forest
And soon came to terms
With a feeling of loneliness
She could never escape.

She then decided
In Her infinite wisdom
To create a being
Worthy of freedom
He would own the gardens
Inhabit the World
And respect the wishes
Of his loving Creator.

And the day came
To create the Man
Who could comfort Her
When the time was right
She walked through the garden
She proudly created
The Garden of Eve
She was thrilled to name it
She caught her reflection
On a beautiful lake
And with all the excitement
That for so long She held
She said the word "Man"
As loud as She could.

Then suddenly a Man
Stood right by her side
He was perfect and beautiful
Just what She had in mind
He looked all around
A bit confused he was
He could not understand
What had just transpired
He turned to Her
Looking for answers.

“Adam,” She said
“Is your name
I love you,
And I always will”
She then explained
That he had the gifts
That for eons She saved
For someone like him.

Adam could exclude
Himself from Creation
He could stare at the Cosmos
As a spectator
He learned that his mind
Could carry the World
On the palm of his hand
If he so desired.

Adam was free
To do as he wanted
Knowing right from wrong
In return She required
The more Adam got
The more he wanted
And soon She understood
That the freedom he had
Would tilt in his favor
It was a matter of time.

But God is Love
She could not destroy
The Man that She loved
For so very long
She had no choice
But to strip her Creation
Of the many gifts
That at one time
She was thrilled to give him.

She took his ability
To speak with her
She erased his memory
He was alone in the world
From that moment on
As the story goes
He forgot who he was
Or where he was from.

Adam embraced science
To understand his world
He turned to religion
To find his creator
He studied philosophy
To understand who he was
And embrace theology
To connect the dots.

But the God of Love
Left the door open
So Man could sense her
And long to get closer
She realized that Man
Could never survive
A challenging World
He could not understand.

God kept Her promise
To Love her Creation
She watched over him
To keep him from danger
She promised to catch him
And not let him fall
She’d never abandon
The Man that She loved.

By the end of the story
God finally learned
That Her love for Man
Was so deep in Her heart
That all the Glory
She possessed as a God
Paled in comparison
To her feelings for Man.

The harmony of the Cosmos
Depends in part
On the delicate balance
Between God and Man
As centuries passed
And humanity grew
Languages and cultures
Different points of view
Yet every Man felt
The presence of God
But each expressed it
Taking different paths
And by reading this story
I hope that you learned
That humanity needs God
As much as God needs Man.
