Hand in Hand

"Carter Wills"

You make me so happy,
and there's little else to say.
How much it is that I love you
can't be explained by words alone anyway.

But I'll do my best to put to note
the feelings I hold to so tightly.
The joy, the love, the simple adoration
that with you feels so good and so rightly.

Every moment spent with you
is a second I'll always adore.
I just can't get enough of you,
and I'll always be wanting more.

Every word I hear from your lips
is music upon my ears.
For even if I've felt my worse
you help to dispel my fears.

I love it each and all,
every simple little thing you that you do,
even just smiling, laughing, living life to the best
makes me fall so much more for you.

I've never loved one before
as it is that I love you.
For this kind of love that for I feel
is one reserved for so precious few.

And so I'll smile and laugh
as I recall just how lucky I am.
To be the honored one to call you mine,
and live my life by you, hand in hand.

  • Comment from author about the poem: For a good while now, I haven't had many ideas of what exactly to write about. Then I essentially kicked myself silly. I've got the one thing I'd ever need for inspiration: the person I love most. So I've spent the last few days writing poems for them. I might share some of the other recent ones over the next few days. As is, I hope this one is enjoyed.
