Maladies of Mankind

Maladies of Mankind

Ah!....the maladies of Mankind.

Sweet, sweet roses scented most sensual

wild on the vine, but with fungal thorns.

Seek to deflower their velveteen petals

and suffer the stings of their scorns.

Sweet, sweet wine with romantic notions

dreamy and whimsical rose’ Champagne.

Drink to forget the roses you’ve wronged

and advance from the wine to the pain.

Sweet, sweet poppies whose potent pods

ooze liquid-death unsealed.

Abuse this effusion from un-chased drug-lords

and sleep with the dead ‘neath the fields.

And yet…

Sweet, sweet love will send us flying

bodies and hearts, naked and tangled

we’ll cling as one to love undying

and soar through the air…like Angels.

You nail those maladies well Phil. - - humanity forgets the outcomes of many of its indifferent actions until love proves the rest wrong....... a good read my friend.

The ills of this world vividly portrayed Phil, if only we could all learn to love each other the world could be wonderful.

Thank you GF60. You speak truth. We need to embrace Mankind and stop all the selfishness."What a Wonderful World"(Louis) that would be.

Love roses, love wine, but never tried opiates of any form not even as medicine. Well 2 out of 3 aint bad! A great read Phil and if only we (the human race) could be a bit more sensible - certainly when it comes to alcohol and drugs it would be such a better world.
