A prayer to my father

denxse

Time has stood still

The world has paused

A never ending nightmare

A standing ovation, a round of applause

The earth has swallowed me whole

My words are lost

Uplift me from the ground lord

Like you did her soul

Give me the strength to let go

Hold my hand through the darkness

Straighten my posture

Cry with me lord

Help me keep my faith within this torture

Console me father, I’m your daughter

Become my backbone and grant me safe passage

Carry me when I can’t go on

Heal this damage

When my doors are locked you will have the key

Because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed

  • Comment from author about the poem: Last night I lost one of the most important people in my life so suddenly . My grandmother . This is the first time I have ever lost someone so dear and close to me . My grandma was a strong believer in god and this is my prayer to him . Cherish those dear to you and Don’t take them for granted because tomorrow isn’t promised.
