Football Was No Longer
It was a Friday night
And we were in the stands
Eating Frito pies
And listening to the band
Once voted to be captains
But the game was no longer fun
So in the stands we were relaxing
With our girlfriends that had come
The announcers called our names
As if we were still players
But coaches and players the same
No longer noticed or cared
Football had made us stronger
And helped us become young men
But we weren’t players any longer
And found other interests back then
We were glad we had played
And the work that we did
But our girlfriends those days
Helped us really live
