Was almost there

Jeffrey Roy

When my days are through,

When age and destiny succumbs me

I finally quit the fight and give to darkness

When my breathing slows and exhale once more

When my lips are as cool as the sea.

My world dark and peaceful.

My heart slows and comes to a halt

Then chaos ensues

Pressure ensues upon my chest rapidly

My skin pierced with needles of all sorts

Epi injected into my veins to restart a dead heart

My lungs inflate and air rushes in and out

They tube my airway to make me breathe again

Another injection of meds rushes through my veins

My heart lurches and starts to quiver

Jolts of electricity restarts my dead heart

Only to have to die all over again
